How To Take Care Of Your Pets - Here Are Some Tips

 

Pets are important in our life. They are a part of our families and helps us increase our social activities. They reduce our stress and loneliness. They act as our children best friends and help in their positive emotional development. Having a pet help us remain active and healthy. Dogs can be trained to detect seizures. Animals can be helpful in physical rehabilitation in treating patients.

Researches show that people who have pets have a healthier heart and they do not get homesick easily. Pets help us improve our lifestyle and kills our depression from our life. Now it is our responsibility to take good care of them.

In this article, I have provided some necessary information and tips that will help you take good care of your pets.

1.  Allergies:

If your pet seems itchy it may be a sign that he is suffering from an allergy. Pet allergies occur due to low-quality food or poor living area. Your pet may suffer from four types of allergies namely food allergy, environmental allergy, flea allergy and contact dermatitis. Consult your vet immediately if you get signs of any potential allergy in your pet.

Food Allergy: Food allergy occurs due to low-quality protein type present in your pet diet. It can occur at any age even if your pet has eaten this food for a long time. Your pet will start suffering from gastrointestinal as well as dermatological problems. If you see any such issue with your pet take them to vet immediately. For dogs, beef, eggs, soy, dairy, wheat, chicken and lamb are main source of food allergies. In the case of cat dairy, fish and beef are a source of food allergies.

Environmental Allergy: These allergies occur due to inhalation of dust, pollen from grass and flowers, weeds and moulds. They are also known as seasonal and airborne allergies. Hay fever symptoms arise such as runny noses, sneezing and coughing. Some other symptoms are also associated with it such as body itching and ear infections. Try to decrease your pet exposure to the items that cause this allergy.

Flea Allergy: Some pets are allergic to flea biting, the bites become inflamed and sored. They may feel extensive itching and irritation. Your pet will chew or lick the bites extensively. If you find any of these signs in your pet contact your vet. He is going to provide you with some medications, topical therapies and formulated shampoos that kill fleas.

2.  Nutritious diet:

You need to provide your pets with a nutritious diet. Nutritious pet diet means diet that has the right balance of nutrients to promote good health. Diet that is of low-quality meat are cheap to buy but will affect your pet health.  A diet that have excess nutrients are as harmful as diets that having fewer nutrients value. Also, provide your pets will sufficient quantity of food to give them enough amount of energy for the day.  

Good quality meat should be the main ingredient of your pet diet. Diet should have a balanced proportion of vitamin C and E to improve their immune system. DHA is important for brain and vision development. Your pet’s diet should include calcium proportion for bone and joint development.

3.  Protected and clean environment:

Pets should always be provided with a clean environment so that they don’t catch germs or get sick. They should not be placed near a place where there are naked wires in place or a place that is too near the fire. Provide them with fresh water daily. Change their water pot three times a day and train them to drink water several times a day. 

It is your responsibility to provide your pets with a suitable house and bedding so that they can sleep peacefully. House that is warm in winter is a necessity for your pet. Try to arrange a heater for your pet during wintertime so that they can keep themselves warm during cold weather.

4.  Grooming and nail trimming:

Groom your pets so that they will look, feel and smell better every day. There are specific ranges of shampoos and conditioners that grooms the hair of your pets. You can use these specially designed, soap-free, PH balanced, includes extracts of natural plants such as aloe vera, coconut, lemon balm, orange, grapefruit and rosemary shampoos for both cats and dogs.

There are certain pet grooming products that add brightness to coats of young puppies and kittens and shine to old coats of cats and dogs. They are easy to apply – just rinse the coat, apply the product and rinse. There are also coat sprays available that add very light soothing smell to your pet’s fur.

Nail trimming is also necessary for your pet. If you don’t trim their nail it is highly likely that they will catch germs. Make sure to trim their nails as soon as they get long enough to cover toes skin.

5.  Dental Care:

Just like humans, dental care of your pet is important as it will have an impact on their overall health. If you use toothbrushes and pastes specially designed for your pets, it will reduce dental diseases by 90%. In order to reduce plaque and tartar, you can use various dental treats available in the market. Some contain active ingredients while others provide abrasive action in the mouth for active treatment of plaque.

Various types of water gels are available in the market that helps plaque formation. Dental toys help your pet chewing action and moving saliva in the mouth. Your pet teeth will keep chewing and hence will lover plaque formation and remove any bits and pieces that remain in their mouth.

6.  Regular checkup & vaccination:

A regular veteran checkup is necessary for your pet. Take them to vet regularly to diagnose any disease pre hand. How often you should take your pet to the vet depends on your pet life stage. Vaccination is also very important for pet health so that they do not catch major diseases.

If your kitten or puppy is up to 1 year, you need to take them for vaccines every three to four weeks unless he is 16 weeks old. Your vet will examine them again after six months for signs of any potential disease.

When your pet is from 7 to 10 years old, you should take your pet to vet twice a year. The vet will probably ask for a blood test to check heartworm. The vet can also ask for a thorough examination in order to check your pet heart and kidneys.

7.  Exercises:

Take your pets for exercises daily so that they don’t get overweight. Take your dog out for a walk every day. Walking lowers heart diseases, makes bones denser, lower blood pressure and reduces risk of depression.  You can also dance with your dog. It will help burn calories and increase their stamina.

You can play with your pet in your own backyard. Frisbee offers great movement to help for your dog. You can enter into completion with your pet. This will motivate you both to exercise and reduce the risk of heart diseases.

8.  The use of collars, leashes, and proper identification when appropriate:

Your pet should wear a collar with a nametag for proper identification. In case they get lost, they can be brought back to you safely.
